We Care Deeply About our Library
NEWSFLASH! It’s National Friends of Libraries Week! Stop in and meet Friends of the SJI Library this week.
We are the folks who care deeply about our library. You will find us at the ferry dock book stand, at the Farmer’s Market, right inside the library front door at the Treasure Cove, and even working on the Scarecrow Contest. We host big fundraisers with book sales, online auctions, silent auctions and inside the library with sales and in house library markets. You might see our Friends of the Library (FOL) board members pounding the pavement searching for business memberships or donations for an auction. When you donate your used books, you will find us sorting and preparing books by categories for resale or for being shipped off island.
We are your friends and neighbors who raise monies for library special programming such as the summer reading program, for database purchases, for hot spot devices, for bringing in speakers, we talk to the public about the value of the library, we encourage reading and library use. We work hard for our excellent library and have fun doing it! There is nothing like an excellent common cause to encourage good friendships, which our FOL Board has.
